Train Drivers
Do you have a passion for trains? Have you dreamed of driving a heritage train?
We are seeking applications from rail enthusiasts to operate our solar powered heritage railcars in Byron Bay. Full training will be provided to suitable applicants.
Essential
- Meet the Category 1 Medical Standards as set out in the National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers. Byron Bay Railroad Company will arrange and pay for medical examination for suitable applicants.
- Comply with alcohol and drug policies as mandated in Rail Safety National Law.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Be able to successfully complete the Heritage Passenger Train Driver Course. All training will be provided free on site by Byron Bay Railroad Company.
Desirable
- A keen interest in railways or transport.
- A desire to contribute to the community.
- A current first aid certificate.
Key responsibilities
- Drive the train and adhere to all safe working regulations, company instructions and requirements of Rail Safety National Law and our rail safety accreditation.
- Be responsible for the safe operation of the train.
- Perform minor maintenance and be responsible for all first level servicing and provisioning.
- Work as a team to provide a memorable customer experience and be an ambassador for Byron Bay Railroad Company.
- Participate in the development of a culture of safety within the organisation.
- Complete reports and documents as required.
- Supervise Passenger Attendants.
- Maintain competency in all operational skills. Be willing to engage in training to update skills.
